I was thinking chargeback but based on the research, Amazon blocks you from all their services if you do that. So I figured it wasn't worth it.
Amazon doesn't sell the book at all? I think I just realized something.

It's most likely the case.
I always recommend purchasing the wrong Item from the same company, by using a completely different account. As such, In the event they scan It, they'll see It's part of their Inventory and Issue a refund/replacement thereafter.

They did sell the book, but my mistake was not buying it from Amazon themselves, I got it from a book store. As Mothered said, they likely scanned the book and noticed it wasn't a part of their inventory so that's why they gave no refund for me

Interesting. I didn't think that'd be an issue. I've personally sent items I bought elsewhere and sent to them, just made sure it was part of their inventory. My mate sent them something they've never sold lol, which is why I asked. The more you know though, that's a good lesson

Yeah, I helped friends with this method before and they had no problems as well. I'm guessing this is Amazon stomping down on this method, since it's easy for them to scan an item to see if its in inventory, as opposed to other investigative methods

In your case probably the value of the items was smaller than 700

I've done 500-1500 prior with no issues, this particular case was about 700 though. It has been a while for pricier items though so maybe value matters more.

That is what I thought, but we need a bigger sample size to claim that (but with the case I was dealing with, it was a clear fuck up, an item never sold by them)
