Hi guys,

Wanted to see your thoughts - if one were to buy a warehouse deal on a laptop thats lightly used, and then swap the laptops and say it was not the item that they bought - would this work for a refund?

Yes It will, they have a 30-day return policy.

Be sure the wrong Item Is stocked by Amazon, and Is roughly the same size & weight.

I meant physically take out the laptop and put a different one inside. since i assume they scan the item theres no way they'd mistakingly scan a different box right?

also for laptops it is different for their return policy -
Computers and Electronics
New desktop, laptops, or tablets (excluding Kindle E-readers and Fires) purchased from Amazon.com that didn't start when they arrived, arrived in damaged condition, or is still in an unopened box can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
Amazon.com may test computers that are returned because they didn't start when they arrived and impose a customer fee equal to 15 percent of the product sales price if the customer misrepresents the condition of the product.
Any returned desktop, laptop or tablet that is damaged through customer misuse, is missing parts, or is in unsellable condition due to customer tampering may result in the customer being charged a higher restocking fee based on the condition of the product.
New, used, and refurbished products purchased from Marketplace vendors are subject to the returns policy of the individual vendor.

^ That's not what I'm referring to. Given that Items may be checked on return, It's susceptible to failure.

You claim that an Incorrect Item has been dispatched altogether, box Inclusive. That Is, the warehouse picked, packed and dispatched an Item other than the one ordered. Human error Is Inevitable- just because It was scanned, It doesn't mean the "same box" was "physically" packed. Or (In this case), a different box was scanned.

The above Is not documented on their official site, nor Is there a reference point (asterisk or otherwise) denoting further details.

Quote:Used products generally do not come with a manufacturer's warranty but all of our items are backed by Amazon’s standard 30-day return policy.
Quote:Customers can return any items within 30-days of receipt for a full refund.

The operative words being "Any Items".

There's nobody saying you can't get away with this, however, it has a huge chance of failing.

If somebody is going to steal a laptop, they're not really going to stuff another laptop in instead IMO.

I'd go with wrong item received.

Printing paper is a rather good substitution for laptops btw.

Well said.

You need to remember that a decent laptop Is considered a high value Item and because of this, they'll most likely check the contents of the box when returned. It takes one mistake to fail, but any amount of (calculated) methods to succeed.

I have done this with PS4, laptops, go pro and more. Warehouse deals is easiest to SE

I think we're all fully aware that the warehouse deals are the easier ones to deal with, as usually, once they're returned, Amazon will most likely have them scrapped anyway.

But SEing is all about learning how to do it properly. Leaving no way of allowing them to deny you a refund, etc.

I ordered some computer bits from the Amazon warehouse. Swapped them over. Sent them back. Got an email telling me I've returned the incorrect items. Flat out refused to refund me without returning the items they want. Be careful with swapping stuff out. Just do wrong item received
