The money In the GC Itself, Is not refundable/redeemed for cash.

Items purchased against the GC Is a different thing altogether. In this case, It's the Item that's In question, not the card.
Yeah it's something bought with the GC, doing a simple SE hoping to get them to refund my in money not with a GC. Should be allowed I reckon.

I can't speak for all, but usually the money Is credited back Into where It was debited, In this case being the GC.

It's like when you purchase an Item with your credit card. The refund will be debited Into the card. But some companies operate differently In how they handle their GC transactions.

Well due to how complex the case is, they cannot directly refund it to the card from a GC so it's going to the relevant department and I'll be contacted after investigating the situation. Sounds bad but hey ho. I could've got it to the GC easier I'll do that if they take to long.

Update - I used the wrong item received method, just to be safe since the account has no previous purchases and bare bones in terms of personal data. It only contains a fake name and everything else is anonymous.

At first they responded with, send pictures of the item you received and then we can take it further. I didn’t actually have the substitute item with me (not delivered yet) so I just convinced them that I wasn’t home and would have to send the picture when I get back.

I tried my luck again 12hours later and they basically told me they will be starting an investigation with the courier and will get back to me in 48hours. Not sure what they could possibly be looking for there but will update once I get the results.

Where warranted, they need to follow company protocol, regardless whether or not they're Investigating specifics.

Update - Once investigation was over, they requested that I add a payment method to the account and return the wrong item.

I have now done so and to continue with the claim I have to sign an affidavit. I have tried to convince various reps to issue a refund but it always ends up going to the internal team who obviously can see that an affidavit form has been requested. As @mothered has stated, it’s legally binding so I don’t want to go there.

I have decided to cut my losses and move on.

However just for future reference.
Considering my scenario, as I am using a false identity, would signing an affidavit with the false information, just to move on with the claim work? Like the account has no information leading back to me, so what’s the worst that can happen? Any thoughts?

It may well work and the claim will move forward, however If It were determined that you provided Information that was not true and correct, It can lead to charges being laid.

Personally, I wouldn't sign a document that's admissible In court.

Fair enough. Looks like I will start from scratch and try to do more legit orders first before making my first refund attempt.
Thanks!

The affidavit may not even lead to anything, but It's not worth taking the risk- once It's signed, It can be used against you at anytime In future.

Good luck with your subsequent SEs.
