Amazon SE help #1
Hi, I purchased a GPU from amazon co uk for £1300, I tried boxing them with an old GPU that had similar weight, they refunded me but a few hours after I receive this email:

Hello,

We are writing to let you know that we received the wrong item instead of the original item, ITEM NAME, in your return of order ORDER NUMBER.

We are discarding the INCORRECT ITEM that you sent. We will be happy to accept the return of the correct item at your earliest convenience.

We expect and understand the occasional problem with a return. However, there have been repeated problems with returns on your account. We want to bring this to your attention because continued failure to follow our policies may result in you no longer being able to buy on Amazon.co.uk.

If your account is closed, any unused gift card balance as a result of a refund on an order will no longer be available. Your balance will not be redeemable or transferable.

You can learn more about our policies by visiting the Conditions of Use & Sale page at the link below:
www.amazon.co.uk/help/conditionsofuse

We will have to re-charge you for the item if you do not return the correct item by September 30, 2021.

If you would like to appeal this decision, please reply to this email to reach an Account Specialist within 30 days. Our Account Specialist team is unable to provide support via phone or chat at this time.

What should I do? The old GPU I sent back was worth £200 - £300.

Thanks for any help.

What did your SE Involve?

You should have purely boxed them.

Quote:We are discarding the INCORRECT ITEM that you sent.
They have no right to dispose of an Item that belongs to you. Ask them to send It back.

If they fail to comply, you have every right to keep their product.

1)I simply said it wasn't working and I wanted to return it, as it had a OTP. 2) I'll remember that in the future. 3) That's what I thought, I asked on live chat but they said they can't send it back to me, "It's already been dispersed".

That's totally unacceptable.

Demand your Item be returned and at the same time, express your anger and frustration.

I don't know how this will help you, but I have the following idea for your current situation:

When you got the 1300£ GPU, your old 300£ card was also removed and lying around. After realizing that the 1300£ GPU "wont work", ...
a) you accidentally packed the WRONG GPU (distracted from work, stress, family problems or something like that)
b) a roommate prepared the return package FOR YOU because you were at work. Your roommate accidentally packed THE WRONG GPU.

It's ludicrous how they refuse to return your Item, but expect you to return theirs.

The Issue Is that they disposed of It via their own volition, so It's their responsibility to send It back to Its rightful owner - namely yourself. Be sure to remain adamant with demanding the return.

If I were in this situation I would just tell them you've accidentally packed the wrong GPU and you need that one back. I would play hard ball and refuse to return anything to them until I got my property.

Less is more. Don't give any details you don't need to. The wrong item was packed and shipped and I need my item back. They don't need a tall tale about a roommate taking care of the shipment. That might bite you later if you need to adjust your methodology.

This is a tough one... I wish you luck

It's a tough one because they've created It as such.

The equation Is pretty simple - If the OP doesn't receive his Item, they don't receive theirs. Whether they like It or not, that's where the claim currently stands.

Cancel your card and tell them clearly you sent the item back that you received. Mention the item you received wasn't sealed. You could have received another customers SE'd item.

They may or may not ban your account but at least you keep your refund.

If the card Is cancelled, there's no need to explain yourself - all communications end the moment It's terminated.

They've already mentioned the possibility of an account closure and given they won't be able to debit the account, a ban will certainly take place. But as you've said, the funds will remain Intact.
