It depends on the level of difficulty- whether a signature Is required, or dropped off at the local post office for collection If no one's home and so forth.
If the package Is left at the front door without any form of authorization, by all means, go for the DNA.

Going to attempt to have my parents just let them ring the bell and leave it at one of the doors.

So no signature on delivery, correct?

That’s going to be the plan. Having some second thoughts though on whether doing that and claiming DNA or claiming wrong item would be better. I just really don’t want to hassle with an investigation and want everything to go smoothly and although I’ve seen you say that it’s part of the process it just still makes me nervous.

The DNA may warrant an Investigation and If you're not comfortable with that, opt for the wrong Item received method.

Any advice? Just contacted them saying that another item arrived and they’re not willing to instantly refund me. They want the other items back. Do you think I should keep chatting / calling or just give up and send the others back and wait?

You should just look for another cheap item fulfilled by Amazon with the same weight and size and buy it from another store, put it into the original outer Amazon box and send it back. Any other way is going to be tricky, although not impossible.

Of course they'll request the return of the Incorrect Item. When It's deemed an error on their end, only then will they Issue a refund.
Send a stock Item that's roughly of equal size & weight.
