Amazon 4080 WIR or DNA?? Advice #1
Have - Strix 4070 Ti (shipping weight 3.9lbs, purchased direct from Asus)

Trying to SE a Strix 4080 from Amzn. (weight 5.5lbs)

10+ year old account with prime, have made returns but all legit, no games, this would be the first time trying something like this.

My plan was to order the Strix 4080 Amazon direct, and upon arrival call Amazon and tell them the Strix 4070 Ti was in the 4080s box, prompting a wrong item received return.

I live in an apartment complex, the Amazon delivery guys can put it in a parcel with a code but more often than not they’ll knock on my door and hand deliver.

I’m assuming it’d very likely be a delivery where I have to provide a code, so DNA wouldn’t be an option if I understand things correctly.

Looking for advice on how to proceed, I’ve looked through other guides such as the ones from @kiza42 @activeRe @mothered

Id appreciate some advice from you goats whom have treaded this path before me, seems you guys went with totally different items for WIR or attempted DNAs

Whereas for me, I’m attempting to return them a legit 4070 ti Strix ..

Keep in mind, of course the 4080 box and 4070 Ti inside will have non matching, different SN PN stickers.

Btw I do have the original 4070 Ti box and packaging, what about faking that they shipped me a 4070 ti box / gpu on accident? Probably wouldn’t work due to serial numbers and weight right?

How should I go about SE’ing this 4080?

Thanks everyone

I appreciate the effort but this may be overkill.
Not sure how attempting WIR with a highly similar (valuable) item would increase your odds of success.
They will most likely give you trouble anyway, might as well just try to DNA, or WIR with a similar but worthless item.

Yeah I was thinking that.. also, would it be an issue that the 4070 Ti didn’t come from amazons inventory? As it was purchased from ASUS?

I could try and do it with a different item of similar weight, but for me, all I wanted to do is swap from a 4070 ti to a 4080.. and being they’re from the same product family I figured it could be a more believable method

What concerns me is the weight, as the 4070 ti’s shipping weight is 1.6lbs less than the 4080

Theoretically yes, but practically I think it doesn't matter, they probably wont go this far to review your claim.

It mostly comes down to the strength of the account, you seem to have a strong one, I'd say don't be shy & keep your 4070 out of it.

I agree, I see your point and yeah my account is strong. No games, have had prime for like 8yrs, all legit

In that case, I’d really love to DNA if I can, we’ll see how they deliver the 4080 and then maybe someone can shed some light on a DNA

1000$+ they will probably require OTP.

If you have a stealth acc / friend who could help, perhaps WIR with a low value (but similar weight) item would be your best bet.

What’s the reason behind using a similar weight item which is also from Amazon for a WIR? Is it so you’re returning a wrong item that did come from their stock??

Yes, it would seem so. Nobody knows for sure, it's all about maximizing the odds of success.
I have no experience with WIR myself, all I know is gathered from @mothered tips & related threads.

Both items should be :
- same weight
- (sold &) dispatched by @mazon
- optional : within same category

So overall it’d be straight up stupid to attempt to say the 4070 Ti (purchased not from Amazon) came in the box

Unless I’m misunderstanding WIR, hard for me to find these guides I’m new here
