I’ve ordered some airpods from JBHiFi and received them today. Weight on the box says 240g, but i’m assuming that’s the shipping weight and hopefully won’t impact this SE much.
Ive contacted JB’s live chat and they’ve emailed me asking for information and a photo, just sent a pic of an empty box saying the airpods aren’t inside. Is that the right move? It just shows the box open with the warranty paperwork stuff and nothing inside.

Also, would I be able to keep the charging cable and ear tips or does that impact the SE?

The AirPods, Inclusive of the charging case, are around 55 grams.

It's best not to claim the entire contents were missing.

It's very unlikely the manufacturer didn't pack all the goods. Good move opting for JB - they're a lot more relaxed compared to Harvey Norman and Officeworks.

Mini update, the manager at the JB that delivered my order emailed me asking me to come in for a replacement. How can I twist this to get a refund? Get the replacement and then request a return online?

Say that you've just received the same product as a gift, hence would prefer a refund.

Kind of unsure how I would word such a response. I told them originally that I bought the airpods as a gift for a family member so I wanted it sorted urgently. So, should I say that I’ve already gone into a physical store (such as Apple) and bought a new pair so the replacement is unnecessary? My main fear is the manager seeing a refund over a replacement as suspicious and denying it.

Precisely what I do. "I've already went ahead and bought the item at ____ locally and it'd just be easier to get a refund instead of a replacement. Thanks."

Pretty simple - tell them that the family member received the same product as a gift from someone else.

It's not difficult to seek alternatives. It took me all but 8 seconds to come up with It.

Hellooo, a very late reply but it’s good news.

They asked to meet me in person at the store, they wanted the empty box back to check the S/N but no one told me to bring it so they let it slide surprisingly. Got my confirmation email today and refund currently pending in my bank.

Im a little shocked because I was very careless and lazy with this refund, but maybe meeting in person was what sealed it as I think I was more convincing.
