Advice on display issue #1
I'm not sure where this thread should go, so for now it is in the lounge.

I'm looking for advice on how to fix the issue seen in the image below:

I'm using my laptop to connect to my tv via an hdmi cable. No matter what I try, I cannot seem to rectify this issue. I have changed screen res, changed the aspect ratio (there is no option to just scan), checked the option on my graphics settings (which aren't any different from the settings for screen resolutions through control panel), tried looking for any settings on my TV (none that have anything to do with screen resolution or alignment), checked my drivers are all updated, tried unplugging and replugging the hdmi in, googling the problem and nothing I do will work.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be really grateful to hear them as this is driving up the bloody wall!

It's automatically set like that when I link it up. I've tried putting it on display 1, display 2, multiple displays and extended. I tried all the res settings as well.

I really appreciate the suggestion though! Thank you

Try to change your scaling settings. What monitor is it?

Have you connected It to another TV to see If the Issue Is In fact the same? Have you tried connecting via anything other than HDMI? How about connecting "another" lappy/PC to the given TV?

I'm just trying to exhaust all avenues.

I can select custom scaling settings but no matter what I change them to, it won't make the image central to the TV screen, it stays off to the side.

Some other laptops have had the same issue but were fixed just by playing with the screen res and by setting it to extend across the two "monitors". I tried that with this laptop but couldn't manage it. Also, one laptop just worked perfectly.

Unfortunately I haven't got another TV that has an hdmi port to test it with.

What else could I try besides HDMI? I'm not very knowledgeable about cables etc XD

No worries, it's worth trying everything if possible.

Thanks for replying to the thread as well. I appreciate any help I can get on this xD

Your TV is a different aspect ratio than the outputted image. TL;DR, You can't fix it.

That's at the full stretch.

Are you sure? I thought that would just make the image smaller/bigger... Not just decentralised. Tell me if I'm totally wrong though.

It's become stretched lengthways, best option is to just adapt to how it is.
