This idea basically came from me having no idea how to send a referral link for this site.

Within one of the two header / main content top banners, you should add a "refer friends" link. Shouldn't be hard to set up as an href for each userID and there's a ton of room to do so. It'd be even better if you could just click the bottom and it automatically copies the link.

Perfection would be a User referral link in the top right corner, furthest right. Click it and it displays a dropdown with the individual user's referral link in a text box, with a copy button below that. Click the button and it paste's to the individual's clipboard for easy referrals / new members, or just copy+paste the link displayed in the text box.

Did you find it difficult to find the referral link?

I feel like referral links should be something under the control panel (which they are). Currently they are only two clicks away.

I'm not sure how often people are using the referral links, to justify having it crowd the banners. I would like to see some input from other members and get some more thoughts.

I went to my CP and honestly I still don't see a link to refer someone...

There's room for a lot more links between the two headers that would go along perfectly with the current layout. Just put a small "send" icon after the onion/teardrop icon in the upper randy. Or between it, or to the left of the two current icons.

I understand referrals likely aren't used much, but there isn't too many ways to earn nsp either, which may need an update as well; You get 0nsp from referrals. I would suggest a reward system. 10-25nsp for a referral after 4-7 days registered + 10 post, then maybe a bonus for the referrer if the referee moves up in rank (bronze = +25 bonus, silver +50, etc.)

Just spouting ideas to consider. There hasn't been much change here lately; Maybe we can do something to attract some more users / continue activity. This could open the door for referral contest/reddit spams as well. The majority of users might sign up and stay MIA, but there's definitely potential to branch out. Archived content is here, it's more advertising at this point; aka referral + rewards.

I certainly appreciate your ideas and thoughts. As far as NSP goes, you earn it every time you post, so I'm not sure people are struggling to earn it. We want the NSP to be specific to your personal contributions. I suppose successful referrals could be considered such. Only Oni could comment on how easy that would be to implement.

When you open the User Control Panel, it's at the bottom of the box for your account summary.
