In my experience thus far they won't accept report's from AF.
They will call the police in your local jurisdiction who won't be able to verify the report as AF doesn't immediately pass it to them, which is rather counter-intuitive.
Your best bet is to report it as a theft which might I add is pretty ridiculous but it's going to be the only way to receive a CRN they can validate, this can be obtained by filling a brief form on your local police website eg Surrey police etc and you should have an officer call you within 48hrs with a valid CRN, they will likely tell you as there are no lines of enquiry to follow they are holding the report in a completed state but will not be pursuing the matter further.
Hope this helps.
From AR - Action Fraud reports are passed to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) who assess, analyse and send them to police forces for investigation.
Its anyone's guess as to how long this takes, but apparently too long for amazon! No surprises there.

I found this to be somewhat interesting, apparently amazon Reps are indeed "misinformed" on a widespread scale.
All highly convenient.
My local PD would not file one . Action fraud was the only way I could legitimately submit it
