AMAZON INVESTIGATION 06-07-2018, 03:07 PM

The account i'm using has had only one previous order back in January. (legit order). I ordered a pair of headphones and when i contacted them today the first rep said about an investigation and that i would hear back within 24-48 hours. Does this mean no refund or replacement? I tried different reps but the very first one opened up an investigation straight away. I claimed an empty box, or that the main part was missing. I have the instructions or booklet. If they do decide not to refund me, can i send the box back as they think i received it with the main item missing, with a note stating this is what i received and that i want my money back?
I need to act fast with what i do from here. I could always send it back and say somebody took it out the box at my address or something. The box didn't require a signature. He handed it over outside the main door of where i live (Not my actual door)
Any help would be good
Thanks.
