Is the IP address, specifically applied for non-routable purposes to prevent activation checks?

It's a non-routable IP (similar to a localhost) that relates to IPv4 addresses on the local machine.

Along with 127.0.0.1, I've used that IP In my Hosts file to prevent a given software's activation servers from communicating and deactivating the license. I'd say this serves a similar purpose.

no, the original application does

Yes, that's what I'm referring to, the original application.

As such, It makes sense why the non-routable IP address Is added- to prevent the activation servers from communicating with the product's licensing.
